There is a lot to consider when promoting your brand, product, or service on Instagram and that is why we have put together 13 proven ways in how we get our clients to at least 5,000 genuine Instagram followers, in 2 months.
September 2015 was the month that Instagram reached 400 million users, and therefore surpassing Twitter as the second most popular social media network on the planet. In the same month, Instagram made their ad network officially available in more than 30 countries resulting in a huge revenue stream for Instagram. A few months later and Instagram continues to create a buzz and looks set to be king of social media, if not already.
The appeal of Instagram to brands is that having a larger Instagram following can mean more sales for your business, more views on your blog, and a stronger community for your brand, also, early adapters area able to benefit from less competition on a platform.
Google Adwords and Facebook advertising do this also, but Instagram is different as it offers so much more than just a few lines of text or a few quick posts. Instagram gives the opportunity for brands to come alive through classy, stylistic, fashionable images. Lets look at other ways brands can use Instagram :
Describe your brand and interests in the profile bio and use it to tell a compelling story. If you also use relevant hashtags you will be able to attract followers with similar interests.
- To edit your bio you can go to your profile and press the “Edit Button.”
- Tap the Bio section and start writing something creative about your brand.
Interlink Social Media Account.
Linking your Instagram to your Facebook and Twitter will increase your reach and the amount of views your image receives. It will also help your followers on other networks discover your Instagram account and they will likely follow you on Instagram too!
- To do this go to your Instagram profile > Options
- Share Settings and enter your social media accounts you would like to link.
This might involve a little research but find out what your audience likes by checking their accounts with a qualitative analysis of their interests. You can also use Instagram to view what other people are linking in your niche.
When you are taking the photo try and appeal to your audience’s interests. If these are totally different to your brand product or service you should review your audience quality.
Find a niche.
When you are looking to grow a lot of followers you should try specialise in a niche. Then by only posting photos on certain themes will help you gain more traction with your audience.
You may be particularly interested in gym workouts, for example. If you post photos pertaining to the workouts you discover, then you will have more enthusiasts following you.
The best Instagrams account have pictures which all relate to each other and also try to follow a colour scheme, This is not essential but can really bring an account to life which in turn will attract more followers. What works on the best Instagram accounts is that they all have a theme that they stick too. Once you’ve settled on a theme, try your hardest to stick to it!
Time of Day & Day Of Week.
Always, always, always time your posting.
For many people this could be 8am on the commute to work, lunchtimes, evenings, or weekends – which is the busiest time for your business? Every business has peaks and troughs in terms of activity during the day so you should look to capitalise on this by posting at the busiest time to get more views. No one will see you post at 4.30 am !
Do not spam.
This is the biggest turn off for users and can actually see you lose followers if you post too much. When growing our account we aimed to do between 1 & 2 a day , morning and evening peaks.
Use hashtags…and create your own!
Creating a hashtag that is unique to your brand is a great way to build community and gain new content for your account. To do this search for hastags that are not being used and then encourages followers to use it. Your customers can then use this to repost images from your followers. Not only does this build community by showing your followers that you appreciate their photos, but it also gives you content for your own account.
As well as using captions on all your photos on Instagram you should also apply any relevant hashtags. We used the TagFire App to tell us what the most popular hashtags were. We also found some others by manually searching and looking at similar photos hashtags. If you use hashtags correctly you will reach a wider audience outside of your friend list, causing you to increase followers.
Make it social.
You should interact with people daily on Instagram – it is meant to be social after all. Interactions include comments, likes and replies. If you give people feedback also they should help you put in return. This human interaction will definitely encourage more activity on your Instagram account and enable you to gain more followers.
Like relevant photos.
Spend time each day linking people’s photos in your niche, this could involve liking people photos from a hashtag, or going to user’s accounts and liking their photos there.This helps to get your name out there and allows other users to discover you. Take the time to be genuine and organic and this will pay off in the long run.
People are more likely to do something if you ask them to do it. On each of your posts ask other users to:
- Follow you “ follow for more”.
- Like – “like if they like”
- Tag a friend!
Post on other accounts and have other accounts post on yours as a guest contributor. This gives you more exposure and fresh content. Any way of working with other users is normally beneficial.
And that’s it .
Once you have 5,000 followers you can apply the same tips and aim for 10,000 followers!
